Binodh DeSilva

Dr. DeSilva is the Director leading the Protein Bioanalytical group at Amgen Inc. Thousand Oaks, California. She received her Bachelor’s in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka in 1987, and a Ph.D. in Bioanalytical Chemistry in 1994 from the University of Kansas. She was a Post Doctoral Research Associate in the Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department at the University of Kansas from 1994-1995. She was at Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals, Norwich, New York, from 1995-2001. She joined Amgen in 2001 where she is leading a group that focuses on bioanalytical method development, validation and sample analysis of protein therapeutics in support of drug development.  Her research interests are the use of immunoanalytical techniques in the drug development, biomarker analysis for PK/PD relationships, use of antibodies and their fragments as analytical tools, validation issues pertaining to immunoassays and laboratory tools for the 21st century.

Dr. DeSilva has been an active in the field of ligand binding assay primarily through AAPS since 1997.  She is also a member of the American Chemical Society. Dr. DeSilva has published several papers in renowned journals, and two book chapters. She has presented her work at national meetings as both podium and poster presentations.  Dr. DeSilva is in the Editorial Advisory Panel of Bioanalysis journal.
