Dr. Ronald C. Hendrickson is director, Proteomics, Merck Research Laboratories. He joined the Company in 2002. Dr. Hendrickson’s responsibilities include developing and implementing proteomic approaches to identify, characterize and validate plasma- and protein-based biomarkers in basic research through Phase IIb clinical trials, as well as establishing protein profiling capabilities for basic, preclinical and clinical development.

Prior to joining Merck, Dr. Hendrickson was vice president of proteomics at MDS-Proteomics, where he was the relationship manager for a strategic alliance with Harvard Medical School and its affiliated hospitals designed to speed the discovery, development and commercialization of healthcare products. Dr. Hendrickson has also served as head of business development at Protana A/S and as an associate scientist at Corixa Corporation.

Dr. Hendrickson received his Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Virginia and a B.S. in chemistry from the University of Washington.

Dr. Hendrickson received the Outstanding Graduate Research Award from Sigma Xi National Scientific Honor Society in 1996. He has been issued several patents for his work and has written or co-written over 20 publications.
