David Lloyd obtained his PhD from the University of York working with Prof. David Goodall on the development of laser-based polarimetry, and completed postdoctoral research on bioanalytical capillary electrophoresis (CE) with Prof. Irving Wainer at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. He has since worked both in academia (Departments of Oncology and Experimental Medicine, McGill University) and the pharmaceutical industry, leading research groups in bioanalysis and pharmaceutical analysis. Research interests have included direct analysis of microscale biological systems, chiral separations, automation in dosage form testing and fast separations. As a Director in the Analytical R&D department at Bristol-Myers Squibb, current responsibilities include provision of analytical support for projects ranging from the late discovery stage through worldwide registrational filings. Dr. Lloyd was Contributing Editor of
TrAC - Trends in Analytical Chemistry, from 1995 to 2002, and since 1999 he has been Editor of the
Journal of Chromatography B.
